A critical season of development

Emerging adulthood needs intentional support.

The years between education and established adulthood carry enormous possibility, but too many young people navigate them without mentorship, professional exposure, or a clear roadmap.

The framework

Career readiness is connected to identity.

Emerging adulthood is a defining stage marked by identity exploration, career uncertainty, emotional growth, financial transition, and the pressure to establish independence and purpose.

For first generation professionals and young adults facing systemic barriers, this period can feel especially isolating. Employment alone does not solve the challenge. Sustainable development also requires confidence, communication, leadership capacity, self advocacy, relationships, and access to opportunity.

PISM+PRIM uses this framework to shape mentorship, workforce readiness, leadership development, and college to career transition experiences that respond to the whole person.

First generation professionals

Building a path without an inherited roadmap.

First generation professionals are among the first in their families to pursue and navigate professional careers. They may enter the workplace without inherited networks, mentorship, or familiarity with unspoken professional expectations.

They also bring resilience, adaptability, perspective, and the ability to create new pathways for themselves and future generations. Our work honors those strengths while making guidance and access more intentional.
